Recently I have read a review from a non-transfan, can't help but feel like wanted to response to the comments. This is taken from Collection DX.
"I never liked Transformers. Not even as a kid. Oh sure, I liked the cartoon and I loved the movie and used to watch it repeatedly. But the toys just never did it for me. Sure, they usually looked great in vehicle mode, but if I wanted toy cars, I would have bought Hot Wheels or Matchbox. I wanted cool looking robots and they just didn't deliver for me. Furthermore, mine always broke on me so for me, it was all GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, etc....
Then as an adult collector, with the Transformers making a big-time comeback, I still decided to focus my attention elsewhere. In an age where high quality collector toys are everywhere..."
Everyone who loves robot has their own sense of robot-aesthetic. I can see his perspective but I can't believe he doesn't see anything that I see. First and foremost, Transformers' charm is not about how pretty their robot form is, or how cool is their vehicle form is, the main attraction is it TRANSFORMS! Sure if this is not his cup of tea, then so be it. Just don't tell everyone the toy is not cool because they are not graceful or incomplete, or they are half-and-half, not car and not robot. Secondly, he broke his Transformers while he was a kid, great, and so now he didn't like it.
Also, I do realise high quality toys are everywhere these days, but with the price of 3 to 5 times more than Transformers? Uh no, Transformer are in good quality if we look at the price tag. And again, Transformers are for people who like puzzle, and if the robot and vehicle mode are well designed, then is a big plus.
Ah... I am bias but I try not to be. :-P
